Hi I'm Tristan the owner and chief locksmith at Wildman's Locksmiths. I started back in 2000 working for a small independent glazing company as a general labourer and installer. after a couple of years I moved up to fabrication and by the time I had finished i was the head fabricator which in a small firm meant I was the only fabricator. I made every window door and conservatory the firm installed for many years. Being a small company I was also called upon to cover any problems encountered from failed mechanisms and locks that developed faults to adjustments and general snagging for warranty work. This taught me much about the workings of locking systems and how to open locks without causing damage to the rest of the system. I also learned how weather and heat especially can cause a multitude of issues with plastic and wooden windows. As an associated element it got me interested in the workings of locking systems and with access to old broken and scrap windows and doors I could strip them of their locking systems and learn how they work. I developed an interest in lock picking. Coincidentally the company had decided to move over to pre built systems and the manufacturing side was to be sold. I gathered as much cash as I could and booked my locksmith training course.
I continued with the new company training the new fabricators to work the various machinery and assembly of the various wooden and UPVC systems while collecting all the used locks to teach myself with. After a few months I managed to get a new position with a locksmith firm and after a few weeks of shadowing I was sent out on my own with a utility warrant team. Basically I had to gain entry to properties causing no damage and re lock using the original lock so the original key can be used. Turned out I was quite skilled at this and had an exceptional success rate. I also learned many other locksmithing skills to build on my knowledge working on various domestic and commercial locking systems including basic access control and safe work. A few years in I became the head locksmith and was basically in charge of all locksmithing duties and training colleagues. We started doing car keys and therefore learned unforced entry techniques and the use of the various picking tools specific to cars.
A few years ago I started on my own doing freelance work for various firms and still do. One of the firms I work for has predominantly been working within the city centre. The locking systems on aluminium and curtain walling has been a challenge. Mostly because a lot of the systems are obsolete or unobtainable meaning some out of the box thinking and adaptation is in order.
I enjoy the locksmithing and although I'm not one for blowing my own trumpet I'm really good at this job. To be fair I should be after this long. So in summary if what your looking for is a genuine time served locksmith with a multitude of experience succeeding where others have failed then give us a call. our prices are excellent too.
